Okay, ja, ich liebe das Percy Jackson-Universum und Rick Riordans Stil ziemlich. Wirklich. Jetzt, wo wir das aus dem Weg haben: Ich habe endlich das Buch gelesen, dessen Lektüre ich ewig vor mir hergeschoben hatte.

Ich wollte nicht, dass diese Reihe endet und vor allem hab ich befürchtet, dass sie für eine bestimmte Figur nicht gut endet. Aber manchen Dingen muss man sich irgendwann stellen.

Bei manchen Büchern hat man das Gefühl, alte Freunde wiederzusehen. Man trifft aufeinander, schüttelt die Hände, stellt fest, dass man sich in der ganzen Zeit doch verändert hat – um am Ende sitzt man lachend zusammen, weil manche Dinge sich eben nie wirklich ändern. So ähnlich geht es mir mit “Shards of Time”.

Mein klares Lieblingsbuch aus 2017 heißt “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue”, und ist genau so charmant, wie der Titel vermuten lässt. Ich bin ohne sonderlich große Erwartungen an den Roman herangegangen; in erster Linie war ich neugierig auf die Figuren. LGBT im 18. Jahrhundert sind Schlagwörter, die man sonst eher bei Gay Romance findet. Und obwohl es bei “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” in erster Linie um einen unglücklich verliebten jungen Mann geht, ist der Roman trotzdem ganz sicher kein Gay Romance.

Eigentlich lese ich ja gerade „Proxy“ von Alex London, aber … tja, aber. Entweder hat da das Lektorat ordentlich geschlampt, oder der Autor beratungsresistent – eins von beiden muss es gewesen sein, und das mindert meinen Enthusiasmus deutlich. Mehr dazu, wenn ich das Buch ausgelesen habe. Weil mir das Buch so viel Frust bereitet, beschloss ich vor ein paar Tagen, zwischendurch auf ein anderes Buch auszuweichen. Und was bietet sich für ein paar Stunden Ablenkung am besten an? Genau, ein historischer Liebesroman.

Mein Bücher-Wunschzettel und ich – eine unendliche und verworrene Geschichte epischen Ausmaßes. Und praktisch täglich kommen neue Bücher dazu. Mittlerweile habe ich meinen Wunschzettel aufteilen müssen, um überhaupt den Überblick zu behalten – Romane, Biografien, Rechercheliteratur, Handarbeit. Jede einzelne Liste hat die Macht, mich finanziell in den kompletten Ruin zu treiben. Ich erwähnte das mit meiner Liebe für Bücher, ja?

Weil ich mir selbst einen Kaufstopp auferlegt habe, bis ich zumindest fünf Bücher aus meinem SuB weggeschnupft habe (fast geschafft!), und ich gerade mal wieder voller Sehnsucht auf meinen Wunschzettel gestarrt habe, dachte ich, ich lasse euch an meiner Misere teilhaben. Hier also fünf Romane, die aktuell auf meiner Haben-Will-Wann-Darf-Ich-Endlich-Bücher-Kaufen-Liste ganz weit oben stehen.
